Nadir Rahman – Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Nadir Rahman has 20 plus years of experience in corporate and investment banking, sales and trading, direct investments, and real estate. He has done business in over 25 countries, focused on capital markets and financing.
He has held senior management positions (including board memberships) with various global and local firms, including Pakistan’s Fauji Foundation.
Mr. Rahman holds degrees from the Wharton School and the College of Arts and Sciences of the University of Pennsylvania.
Syed Asad Mustafa Shafqat – Chief Financial Officer & Executive Director
Mr. Syed Asad Mustafa Shafqat possesses c. 15 years of experience in Investment Banking, Capital Markets and Private Equity. During his career, Mr Shafqat has lead-managed large ticket domestic and international transactions, including M&A, debt and equity raising, project finance, corporate restructurings & reorganizations, portfolio and investment management, asset valuation and loan resolution/workouts.
Previously, Mr. Shafqat has held senior level positions at renowned organizations including Faysal Bank, Foundation Securities, Actis Capital and Ernst & Young Pakistan.
Mr. Shafqat is a CFA charter-holder and received his Bachelors in Accounting degree from The University of Hull, United Kingdom
Baryalay Arbab - Head of Institutional Sales
Mr. Baryalay Arbab manages the overall sales/trading effort on a country wide level, leveraging off his strength as a salesman with the entire domestic client base and ensuring that adequate training is imparted to new blood being inducted into the sales team. He has also been heading International Sales at KASB Securities Ltd. since 2008, facilitating international institutional interest at the Karachi Stock Exchange where KASB Securities Ltd., in collaboration with Bank of America-Merrill Lynch, enjoys a leading market share and exemplary reputation.
Along with participating in international road shows and events to attract foreign investment, Mr. Arbab is also involved in sales and advisory to some of the largest international and domestic institutions. He holds an MBA in finance from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi obtained in 2006. Mr. Arbab has also been voted amongst the best salespeople in Pakistan by Asia Money in a poll conducted in 2009.
Farrukh Karim Khan, CFA –Head of Research
Mr. Farrukh Karim Khan has been associated with Pakistan’s capital markets on both the buy-side and sell-side over the last 8 years.
Currently, Mr. Khan is Head of Research at KASB Securities, where he manages a team of eight analysts and associates. He is also the strategist for the team. Prior to this, Mr. Khan’s last assignment was with Credit Suisse in Singapore, where he was a research analyst on the regional oil and gas team, with a specific focus on Pakistan.
Mr. Khan interacts extensively with domestic and foreign fund managers who invest in Pakistan, providing research input and helping with corporate access.
Mr. Khan has a BSc. Honors degree from the Lahore University of Management Sciences, graduating with distinction on the Dean’s Honor List. He is also a CFA charter-holder.
Tahir Iqbal - Head of Operations
Mr. Tahir Iqbal joined KASB Securities Limited in February 1994. Mr. Iqbal has over a decade long association with KASB Securities Limited where he has been engaged with settlements, custody and general operations of the company and has been a key resource in designing and automating its business and back office systems. Prior to joining KASB Securities he was Associated as a Cost Accountant with Associated Industries Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd., one of the most prominent export houses in Pakistan. Mr. Iqbal has an MBA (Finance & Accounts) degree from Preston University, USA and has completed various courses from the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan.
Mustafa Sattar - Head of Structured Products & Commodities
Mr. Mustafa Sattar joined KASB Securities in June 2010. He was tasked with setting up the Commodity Desk at KASB Securities. He currently manages the Sales, Trading, and Marketing functions for the Commodity business. Mr. Sattar also manages the Commodity relationship with Merrill Lynch. In addition, he regularly speaks at seminars and conferences along with the Pakistan Mercantile Exchange in order to educate and bring awareness to investors in Pakistan.
Under Mr. Sattar’s leadership, KASB Securities has become the clear leader in Commodity Trading in Pakistan with a focus on client service. He brings with him 10 years of experience at JP Morgan in New York. He has a Degree in International Business from Goldey Beacom College and is a holder of the NASD Series 7 and 63 certification.
